Greening the West is kicking some serious goals for Melbourne’s west, with our One Million Trees Project and a range of partners working together to increase the quality and functionality of green space in the area. Now we’d like to hear from you! Take a picture that shows how you are kicking green goals for Melbourne’s west and share it on Instagram.
This could include:
– watering your vegie patch
– harvesting your patch produce, be it fruit, vegies or herbs!
– planting a tree
– installing a vertical garden
– planting flowers and plants
– installing a rainwater tank or collecting rainwater
– tending your garden
– building a rain garden.

- Upload your pic demonstrating how you are ‘kicking green goals’ (see above for ideas!) and add the hashtag #greeningthewest in the comment section, between 10 February and 29 February for the chance to win!
The pictures with the most likes by 29 February will win!

Keeping in the green goals theme, we’re offering some great footy related prizes, particularly if you’re a fan of another team in Melbourne’s west, the Western Bulldogs.

Terms and conditions – Kicking green goals for Melbourne’s west Instagram competition
1. Prizes
The prizes will be sourced by City West Water. The prizes will be promoted on the Greening the West website www.gwest.localhost and via the Greening the West Instagram account throughout the competition period.
a) 1st Prize
Instagram followers can vote for their favourite photo by ‘liking’ a photo. The entrant whose photo has received the most ‘likes’ as voted by Instagram users at the end of the competition (11:59pm, 29 February 2016) will win the major prize of a $200 voucher for the Western Bulldogs (AFL) Shop, $50 Barkers Café voucher, the chance to meet a Western Bulldogs player and a Greening the West gardening pack ($30 value).
b) 2nd Prize
The entrant whose photo has received the second most ‘likes’ as voted by Instagram users at the end of the competition (11:59pm, 29 February 2016) will receive $100 voucher for the Western Bulldogs (AFL) Shop, $20 Barkers Café Voucher and a Greening the West gardening pack ($30 value).
c) 3rd Prize
The entrant whose photo has received the third most ‘likes’ as voted by Instagram users at the end of the competition (11:59pm, 29 February 2016) will receive $50 voucher for the Western Bulldogs (AFL) Shop and a Greening the West gardening pack ($30 value)
2. Who and how to enter
a) To be in with a chance to win one of the prizes listed above, Victorian residents can enter by following the @greeningthewest Instagram page, sharing their photo entry on their personal Instagram page and entering hash tag #greeningthewest in the caption of the photo during the competition period.
b) Victorian residents who do not have an Instagram account can create one for free via the Instagram app. Information on how to create an account can be found here: https://help.instagram.com/182492381886913/
c) Competition entrants can submit as many photos as they like, but are only eligible to win one of the competition prizes.
3. Eligibility
a) To submit an eligible entry, users’ images on their Instagram account must be set to public. Private users’ photos are not visible on search and can therefore not be selected as winners.
b) To be eligible for the prizes listed you must be a Victorian resident and submit a photo during the specified competition period that depicts a positive act (“kicking a green goal”) of gardening or greening. The photo can depict you or others undertaking gardening activities such as planting a tree, watering a vegetable patch, harvesting vegetables, planting a flower bed.
c) To be eligible for the prizes listed, photos uploaded @greeningthewest must be taken in the City West Water service area. Check where the City West Water service area covers here.
d) To qualify for a prize, you must have an Instagram account, be a follower of @greeningthewest and include the hash tag #greeningthewest on photos uploaded. Photos can be uploaded from 10 February 2016 09:00am (AEST) until 29 February 2016 11:59pm AEST.
e) City West Water staff cannot participate in the competition but friends, family and suppliers are eligible to enter.
4. Competition dates
The Competition begins on 09:00am (AEST) Wednesday 10 February 2016 and ends at 11.59 AEST Monday 29 February 2016.
5. Judging process
1st prize winner
a) The 1st, prize winner will be determined by the photo that receives the most likes during the specified competition period.
2nd prize winner
b) The 2nd prize winner will be determined by the photo that receives the 2nd most likes during the specified competition period.
3rd prize winner
c) The 3rd prize winner will be determined by the photo that receives the 3rd most likes during the specified competition period.
6. Unclaimed prizes
a) If any prize remains unclaimed within a month of notification, the prize will default to the entrant with the next most ‘likes’. This process will continue until the prize is claimed.
b) If reasonable endeavours by City West Water to locate the unclaimed prize winners produce no result, City West Water reserves the right not to award the prizes.
7. Notification
a) The prize winners will be notified via Instagram private message, by email, telephone or in writing.
b) The prize winners’ details will be published on the @greeningthewest Instagram page and Greening the West website. Images will also be shared on both platforms.
8. Information collected
a) Information collected for entry to the Competition is for the use of City West Water.
b) City West Water may require proof of an entrant’s identity or proof of residency, as applicable.
c) City West Water has the right to publish entrants’ details and repost entrants photos after the Competition has ended.
d) The winners agree to participate in any news media activities relative to the Competition.
e) By entering the competition, you accept that City West Water will use your personal information and that such use, including on City West Water’s intranet, City West Water’s website and corporate website, will be without payment for royalties or attribution to you. You warrant that your entry will not breach third party rights (including copyright or moral rights). You indemnify City West Water for all liabilities due to a breach of these Rules.
9. Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions
a) Information on how to enter and the prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions.
b) Participation in the competition is deemed to be acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
10. The Prize
a) City West Water accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prizes.
b) City West Water reserves the right to substitute the prizes with different prizes if the prizes for some reason are unavailable. Such prizes may be subject to gaming approval.
c) All prize values are in Australian dollars.
d) Prizes are not transferable.
e) Winners must take the prizes as offered.
f) Conditions of use may apply.
11. The Promoter
a) The promoter is City West Water Corporation ABN 70 066 902 467 of 1 McNab Avenue Footscray VIC 3011. Telephone 131 691.
b) City West Water, its officers, employees and agents will not be liable for incorrect information, technical errors, fraud, theft, destruction or unauthorised use, access or alteration of information or property arising out of your entry into the Competition.
c) You indemnify City West Water against all loss or damage (arising directly or indirectly) incurred by you or to your property or any third party due to your participation in the Competition or otherwise.
d) City West Water accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, incomplete, misdirected or incorrectly submitted image.
e) City West Water reserves the right to alter any of these terms and conditions at any time.
f) If for any reason any aspect of this Competition is not capable of running as planned, City West Water may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition.
g) Once the winners are known (via most number of likes) the prizes will be awarded and no correspondence entered into.
