Unused site becomes a pop-up park for Yarra’s Edge
Yarra’s Edge Temporary Park development has turned an unused site earmarked for future development into an active green space.
A partnership between Yarra’s Edge developer Mirvac, the City of Melbourne and Places Victoria has transformed the fenced off area, dormant for over a decade, into grass and garden beds.
The project also provides experimental ground for the creation of a ‘mini-arboretum’ for new tree species. These are being trialled in one of the city’s toughest growing environments with exposure to harsh winds, sun and saline conditions.
Until the land is redeveloped it will remain open to the public as temporary parkland for all to enjoy.
